Arranging a Funeral

Guidance with Compassion — One Step at a Time

Arranging a funeral can feel overwhelming, particularly during an emotional time. At Robert A. Drew & Son, we are here to guide you with clarity, compassion and dignity — helping you make decisions at a pace that feels right for you and your family.

Whether you are planning ahead or arranging a funeral following a recent loss, our role is to support you and help create a meaningful farewell that truly reflects your loved one’s life, wishes and personality.

Step 1 — Choosing the Type of Funeral

The first decision is how you would like to say goodbye. We offer a range of carefully considered options, including:

  • Traditional funerals
  • Cremation services
  • Direct cremations
  • Burial services
  • Natural and eco-friendly funerals
  • Religious or non-religious services
  • Personalised celebrations of life

Your funeral arranger will gently explain each option, take time to listen, and help you explore what feels most appropriate for your loved one and your family.

Step 2 — Planning the Service

Once the type of funeral has been chosen, we will help shape the day with care and attention to detail.

We can assist with:

  • Choosing music, hymns and readings
  • Selecting a celebrant, minister or officiant
  • Personal tributes, photographs and visual displays
  • Choosing the service location — church, chapel, graveside or another venue
  • Floral tributes and funeral stationery
  • Arranging visits to our Chapel of Rest

We also take care of all practical arrangements, including:

  • Funeral transport — our Jaguar hearse and limousines
  • Coffin and casket choices
  • Setting the date and time of the funeral
  • Liaising with crematoria and burial authorities
  • Completing all required paperwork and legal documentation

You will never be rushed. We will guide and reassure you throughout every step.

Step 3 — Informing Family and Friends

We can help you share the details of the service clearly and respectfully, including:

  • Printed or online funeral notices
  • Orders of Service and stationery
  • Obituary notices and condolence pages
  • Spaces for messages, memories and tributes

These details help family and friends come together to support one another and honour a life well lived.

Step 4 — Looking After Yourself

Grief affects everyone differently, and it is important to care for yourself during this time.

You may find comfort in:

  • Talking openly with family and friends
  • Sharing decisions rather than carrying them alone
  • Seeking support from a counsellor or bereavement service
  • Visiting our Guidance pages for calm, practical reassurance

Our care does not end on the day of the funeral — we remain here for you whenever you need us.

Clear Guidance on Costs

We believe every family deserves clarity and choice. Your funeral arranger will explain all costs clearly and transparently, including:

  • Venue and crematorium or cemetery fees
  • Celebrant or officiant fees
  • Floral arrangements
  • Funeral vehicles and transport
  • Optional personal touches and tributes

We offer a range of funeral options to suit different needs and budgets, including direct cremations and simple services, and we can also advise on available financial support if required.

You Are Never Alone

During times of loss, many decisions may need to be made — but you do not have to make them alone.

At Robert A. Drew & Son:

  • If you are ready to talk — we will listen.
  • If you are unsure — we will guide you.
  • If you need support — we will take care.
